If you visit Trenton Bridge
in the summer, you’ll have one of
Maine’s great experiences – the
Trenton Bridge seasonal lobster
shack. They have large, wood fired
sea water boilers and you can watch
them take the days catch, toss it
in a netted bag, and boil your lobsters
on the spot. It’s not a fancy place
but the food is perfect. The operation
has built a modest sized pound and
has been in the overnight retail
lobster business for about 20 years.
Our lobsters arrived in good shape
packed with some seaweed (rockweed),
which is always a plus and included
some cooking and handling instructions.
They even threw in a couple of plastic
bibs. Standing over our pot on the
stove had us pining for a seat in
front of the boilers at Trenton.
This was a pretty good substitute.
