Brian Pennell is a 3rd generation lobsterman who has been working at it since he was seven. He knows lobsters. Working out of Dyer’s Cove in Harpswell, Brian designed and built his boat “Odyssey” specifically for lobstering (top speed is 27 MPH!). He is strictly a lobsterman – he has no pound or on-shore holding tanks. If he has to hold a couple of lobsters for a day or two, he just keeps them in the traps in the water. Brian’s only helper is his wife who doubles as his sternman. Brian pulls his traps AFTER he gets an order so you can’t find lobster any fresher than that. Because he has no holding tanks, all lobsters are “boat run” and average around 1 1/4lbs. We love guys like this. |
